Consultative Meeting on Building an Accountability Framework for CAP/Post-2015

There has been general recognition by United Nations Member States of the need to solicit and incorporate views from the various regions especially after the dialogue organized by the President of the General Assembly on 1st May 2014 on “Elements for a Monitoring and Accountability Framework for the post-2015 Development Agenda.” Following this meeting the UN Secretary-General requested the UN Regional Commissions (ECA, ECLAC, ECE, ESCAP & ESCWA) to organize regional meetings to solicit views on accountability and explore options based on existing mechanisms and possible new approaches.

In Africa, the regional meeting was held on 21-23 August 2014 in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. It was hosted by the Economic Commission for Africa as a multi-stakeholder consultation with the participation of the African Union, African Development Bank and civil society representatives. The African Working Group participated and produced a summary report of the meeting.
